Caring is a responsible job - but even dedicated carers need a break from time to time. Whether due to vacation, illness or other reasons: With ZF BKK's respite care, your care is still assured.
What we take on
If your private carer is temporarily unavailable, we will cover the costs of replacement care - for up to 6 weeks per calendar year and up to €1,685. This substitute care can take place at home or in an approved facility - for example in a hospital, rehabilitation clinic, residential home or in facilities for children and young people.
More flexibility through new regulations
In order to better tailor the use of respite and short-term care to your life situation, new, gradually introduced improvements apply:
Since 01.01.2024
People in need of care with care level 4 or 5 who are under 25 years old can use the entire budget for short-term care (up to €3,539) for substitute care. The entitlement to half of the care allowance remains for up to 8 weeks per year.
For all other people in need of care from care level 2, the following still applies:
Up to €843 from short-term care can additionally be used for respite care.
From 01.07.2025:
Then it will be even easier: prevention and short-term care will be combined into a joint annual amount - €3,539 for all those in need of care from care level 2, can be used flexibly. The duration of benefits will also be extended to up to 8 weeks.
