Need for care and care levels
If you can no longer cope with everyday life on your own, the question arises: Is there a need for care - and to what extent is support required? This is exactly where the determination of your individual situation comes in. ZF BKK provides you with reliable support along the way.

Need for care & care levels
The focus is on the need for help: How severely are independence and abilities in everyday life impaired? Six areas of life - so-called modules - are considered in the assessment:
- Mobility
z.e.g. independent walking or climbing stairs - Cognitive and communicative abilities
z.e.g. temporal and spatial orientation, conversational skills - Behavioral and psychological problems
z.e.g. nocturnal restlessness or self-harming behavior - Self-care
z.e.g. personal hygiene, nutrition, dressing - Dealing with the demands of illness or therapy
z.e.g. taking medication, visits to the doctor, wound care - Organizing everyday life and social contacts
z.e.g. daily structure, maintaining relationships
How the classification works
Together with the Medical Service (MD), we check which abilities are still available - and where support is needed. A score is awarded in each module. The sum of all points results in the care level.
Special features for children
In the case of children, the need for care is assessed in comparison to healthy, age-appropriate children. Children up to the age of 18 months are automatically classified one care level higher.
Degree of care | Impairment of independence | Points from |
---|---|---|
II | Significant impairment | 12,5 |
III | severe impairment | 27 |
IV | Most severe impairment | 47,5 |
V | Most severe impairment with special requirements | 70 |
